A view from the Leek side

A chance for a differing view point today, as I'm stepping in for the absent author of the blog (don't worry avid fans, he'll be back tomorrow).

I opted for the Cream of Leek and Potato today, and whilst it's obviously no match for the mighty Chilli Beef, it's definitely a nice alternative. Thick, tasty and slightly less abrasive on the old chest that the CB, it went really well with my chicken and stuffing sandwich. Today was one of those days where I could've sank at least one more cup of the good stuff, I didn't though because that's just greedy isn't it.

Unfortunately, I don't dip anything in my soup, but just for consistency, I did have Seabrooks 'Beefy' crisps with my lunch...possibly the best crisps on sale at the moment if you exclude the awesomeness of Beef Monster Munch (which are technically corn and maize based snacks, as we all know).

P.S - check out my own blog 'Crystal Blue Dreams' for retro game related musings.

Medicinal soup

adjective /məˈdisənl/
(of a substance or plant) Having healing properties
  • - medicinal herbs
  • - a large medicinal Scotch
  • -spolies chilli beef soup
Woke up this morning feelin properly in the grip of a full blown bout of the dreaded man flu, the prospect of a nice hot CB the only thing that's kept me interested enough to endure this morning. 2 sips in and I'm already starting to feel better, perhaps it's an association with soup and lunchtime? Or maybe the CB does actually contain some magical ingredient('s). The latter of these two makes me happier.

Dipping choice for today: Mexican Chilli by McCoys (also accompanied by a chilli tuna bap. So I'm having chilli soup, chilli crisps and a chilli bap, erm yeah, I need to read the rest of the menu).

It's soooo hot, Chilli soup was a bad choice.

Once in a while, I'm gonna end up giving the soup a bad review, today is one of those days...
It is a little bland, the consistency is not as good as normal and if i may go into more detail, the longevity of the taste is pretty poor, it normall stays around in your mouth for ages. I think todays soup was made in a rush... That said, the cup is now completely empty.

Dipping choice for today: Salt & Malt Vinigar, Crinkles by Walkers

Ahhhh monday

Perhaps because I've just scorched the back of my throat with soup, or that it's monday and my palett is not quite right after a weekend of madness, either way, I think that todays soup is bordering on the slightly bland side and I'm not sure how this happens, but there wasn't very much actual beef in it today.
Don't get me wrong though, it's still amazing!

Dipping choice for today: Mexican Chilli by McCoys (this is possible the best choice (so far) to have with the Chilli soup, the ridges also hold the liquid in place quite well.)

p.s. It can't be all that bad because now I've finished it, i really want another one... :)

Hungover Soup

Possibly the best time to enjoy the hot brown stuff. When my body is complaining to me about last nights efforts to make me forget my life, there is no better remedy than the soothing savoury satisfying soup sensation that is the CB. The taste today is very good, can't fault it, not that i would want to, it's tricky just trying to think of different things to write about something that rarely changes.

Dipping choice for today: Chilli Heatwave by Doritos (all the better for the inclusion of Disodium 5'-ribonucleotides, when you can't get hold of any MSG that is). However, these crisps I've found are too flavourful to go well with the beef, it's just too much, man.

Soup Relief

Having had a particularly stress-full morning for reasons I can't/won't go into on here, 11.45 couldn't come round fast enough. It would appear that the chilli beef soup also possesses some kind of medicinal elements too, as i am now experiencing a calming wave of tranquil satisfaction. Although the very slight taste of polystyrene is worrying my ever so slightly, maybe i should take my own cup there?

Dipping choice for today: Salt and malt vinigar crinkles, by Walkers. A wise choice.

Back on the Beef

Having strayed from my almost fanatical daily chilli beef consumption regime, normality is resumed today and I think absence makes the heart (or pallet) grow fonder. For today's soup is very good indeed, it almost tastes like gravy, well, the last bit of gray on your plate which is left over after a Sunday roast, you know, the really good bit.

p.s. Just got to the bottom and found some nice chunks (I use the word chunk is it's looses possible term) of beef and the bottom third didn't taste of Polystyrene, this time. :)
