Duel Phwoar

Today is the day i finally got rid of my Nokia piece of crap phone.
Nokia made good phones, 10 years ago. How i never smashed it, threw it or drowned it in soup i don't know. I am now the proud owner of the Samsung Galixy S 2, dual core mo-fo. Outstanding!

Anyway, you're not reading this because you're interested in my handheld communication device.
The CB has the taste of tomarto again, no vinigar today, quite salty though. Plenty of beef today and oh, that's a chilli kick i can feel? Ah today is a good day.

Where's the beef?

It's in abundance.

Soup tastes kinda weird today it's got the same salty kick in the face as yesterday, but there seems to be some underlying tones of, erm, vinegar(?). Not entirely unpleasant.

We strolled into the house of soup™ and didn't even have to ask for it. We didn't really have to speak. The magnificent polystyrene cup, swapped for a measly pound in utter silence, this is the way transactions should be in the future.

Tired, hot and agitated

Middle of the week is like no-mans land for the soldier who has desserted post, he can't go back, it's just not possible now, but however much he tried, he can't relly push forward right away either as there are many, many things that must be completed before that line is crossed.
He's just gotta ride it out and hope for the best.
Well, that made sense in my head...

I should be happy that it's "cracking the flags" outside, but I'm sitting at my desk, reviewing (for around the 60th time) my daily soup, which is hot and incresing my temperature even more.

The soup is soo salty, and instantly tickles the back of your throat with what feels like a small hot spike.

For some unexplained reason, i have the song "chain reaction" playing away in the back of my head, this is annoying me somewhat, but it's my head doing it. My brain is annoying me. There is a civil war going on in my cerebral cortex. Madness.

Errrgh, they taste like aniseed. Gebus. Perhaps that's the fake sweet taste. I've passed them round and it's not just me. For the first time in my life, I am going to send these back to the retailer.

Grey gruelish gunk

Cream of mushroom (or muchroom as i originally wrote) is the soup for today and i gotta say, I'm disapointed. It smells like mushrooms, but there is no flavour. It needs more seasoning as it tastes too bland. I would add some myself, but that's not really the point, i might as well make my own if i'm gonna start tricking out their soup.
also appreciate that mushroom is quite a subtle flavour, but it's like the flavour is shouting to me from the back of a noisy, crowded room, I can kinda hear it, but it makes no sense.

That said, the combination of the dipping choice for today (please see below) and the grey gruelish gunk™ makes a nice equilibrium.

Trying to ignore the fact that as i was making my sandwiches today, i spotted a dot of mould on one of the slices, never mind.

Cream of Chicken, doesn't bare thinking about...

Today i have decided to deviate from my usual soupy tipple and experiment with cream of chicken. The risk was worth it. Think the really good Heinz chicken soup, then imagine that it tastes 50 times better. There's not very much actual chicken in it, but there never really is in these types of soup. I think the chicken must dissolve.

I'm skint, so it's to my drawer of backup crisps. I don't think these flavours are going to go very well together...
...ummmm, not bad actually.

Actually, as i consume this stuff the taste seems to get less and less, where-as with the CB the flavour keeps going. It's probably my pallet today, as the weekend ruined me.

Anubis Porter

It would appear that drinking Anubis Porter (Anubis was the most important god of the dead, which seems quite apt today, i feel like I've been mumified) on a school night is not the best idea. And then turning down an offer of lunch time pub action definately shows sighs of strain.
This in mind, todays review will be short and sharp.
Soup is good, not as good as yesterdays, but still...

Boss Soup

Wow, the soup today is really tasty, props to the CB magicians and the serving fairies.
Nice and peppery, i surpose there may be a little hint of chilli in there too. Others who have experienced the CB sometimes complain that it is too hot (spicy), I'm not so sure... I'd like to have it much hotter.

Change of temperature

It was difficult during the summer months to maintain drinking a Hot Chilli soup when all i wanted to do is pour iced water down my shirt (slight exageration), but now that september has decided that's that for the summer, the CB comes into it's own. It wasms your soul.

The thought of describing the particular shade of brown the soup has taken every day doesn't make me happy. Observations

It appears that i may have ran out of observations for the CB.
I simply don't think I can think of any other ways of describing the peppery beef mix.
However, my duty is to still give it some kind of review. Maybe i should invent some kind of scoring system, actually, sod it, I'll do that now...

Short one

The people who control the temperature at my work, bless then, try to compensate for the very slight drop in temperature outside by wacking up the heating in the building. This adjustment means that we are all too warm at our desks. The addition of the CB to this mix just makes for a uncomfortable 10 minutes or so. The soup tastes really nice today, by the way.

Just been handed a potato and leek soup, for free. Well, I can't turn down free anything, let alone soup. The aforementioned soup is really fresh and wholesome, anthough the colour is a slightly worrying shade of flouresent green...

The soup magicians

They turn this small round inanimate off-gold object into a steaming cup of, not to put a too finer point on it but, joy. David Blane, never mind locking yourself in a box for a long time, make soup appear in my desk drawer and you may then have my respect.

Whilst struggling back to my workplace with the essential (clinking) Friday supplies and I was thinking I should develop some kind of soup pocket™. This would to free up another hand to open doors, wave at strangers and generally be available to stop my self from falling. Somehow, I think this may be a pipedream.

To the soup! Tastes chocolaty almost. I can smell the pepper... Gebus, there's lots of pepper in it. Marvelous. Maybe they are responding to my calls for some kick?

Hand cooked crisps.

When your system is feeling low, strong flavours are the way to go....

After a fairly late night sponsored by Strongbow, around 80% of my normal systems are still asleep. To awaken these dormant senses I need some kind of culinary dynamite.
The CB fits this bill.

Offers of 'popcorn chicken' and 'salt and pepper chips' from a generous work colleague are warmly received and immediately dipped.
The unfortunate side effect of this flavoursome gorging is that my stomach demands all systems resources to be rerouted to deal with the food, thus rendering me completely knackered. Ah, the afternoon lull...

I wonder what the world record for soup blogging stands at?

Spicy tomato eh?

Like a sommelier in a fine restaurant I was today offered a chance to taste of the soup before i bought it. It made no difference in the end because being the polite character that I am, I was never going to say "Actually, i was after something with a slightly more fragrant bouquet" and spat the soup into a bucket, which wasn't there.

Luckly though, it's really nice.
From my point of view I can't understand why it's got the "spicy" prefix though.
I do appreciate that there is a broad spectrum of people who frequent their establishment, with palletts ranging from the super sensitive salad munchers, to the insane vindaloo eaters, but if they go to the trouble of stating that it's spicy, then i expect spicy. So's not to hurt the water drinkers they disapoint the spice fiends.

I demand a guatemalan insanity pepper in my soup tomorrow!

A classic.

Hot, hot, hot.

Owwwch, just managed to burn my mouth on the soup, after all this time you'd think I'd be used to it. Life is always full of surprises.

I approach my lunch times with a wonderment of what the hell I'm going to write here. Because the soup is usually exactly the same as it was the day before, only there are a few subtle differences in taste now and again, it's usually my mood which dictates the taste personally.

Today, I'm basically writing this to distract myself from other personal matters which could, if i where to let them, consume me. I'm telling myself to be strong, be patient and the right chain of events will play itself out if honesty is the characterism in use.

Peppery kick

ahhh, it tastes like proper soup today, nice bit of peppery kick towards the end.

The soup distribution centre isn't open on a sunday, so i wonder what happens with the soup suppleis then? Is it kept until monday, or consumed on mass by people at the close of shop on saturday evening?
I will never find out though, because the Stanley road in Bootle is not a place where I'll be at 6pm on a saturday. No chance.

My crisps have an anti cracking-agent (e551) in them! What the hell?

One word...

Runny.

But it's friday and it's homemade curry for tea, the Jungle Brothers are in town tomorrow, so who gives a crap about runny soup? This statement may invalidate my entire blog, but some things, I've recently learnt, are more important than others.

Mondays might be good, or it might be even runnier, that's the breaks somtimes.

It's only Cream of tomato, but I like it.

Alright then. For only about the second time I've diverged from the CB medicine to try the new soup on the block ™.

The "Cream of Tomato" effort today is OK. It's refreshing and has actual bits of Tomato in it, but it's lacking the depth of the CB. This soup tastes like a tricked out cup-a-soup, only without the croutons. It could do with a tube of Tomato paste or some ketchup to give it a richer palatableness, maybe a little seasoning wouldn't go a miss.

It's flattness does perk up the crisp combination though.

Soup to blog

Chicken and egg situation. I started writing this blog because i had soup every day and i thought it would be interesting to document my daily experience with the CB. I'm not so sure where i stand with this anymore. One aspect has taken over another. My general desire to have the soup was upheld by the fact that i had the option to have a different flavour or to have no soup at all.
This get-out-clause made it a easy choice, because i could say no.
Now, I'm kind-of obliged to have the soup and because of this, I'm starting to resent the CB. Should i continue to eat it and see what happens? Will my brain snap? Would Spolies go broken if i stopped my obsessive daily ritual.

These are all questions our good friend time will answer, but for now, back to todays CB.

It's very tasty, but it went cold quite quickly, this resulted in what can only be described as globules. I thought they where peas or baken beans at first, but after i managed to capture and isolate one of them, it turned out to be a ball of sogy flavour. My head shook violently from side to side.

Runny, but tasty

I appreciate that soup is generally suposed to be a runny substance, but since I started reviewing this stuff I've found that the CB is best eaten slightly thick. It dosen't exactly ditract from the overall taste, just the experience, which then indirectly impacts on the taste I surpose. The beef content today is good.

Dipping choice for today: Southern Fried Chicken by Roysters:
Suprisingly peppery. If anyones not tried these crisps, I'd recommend them. Easy to hold, strong and super flavour full. Each one is like that great Pringle that's been covered in flavour (by getting jammed in the machine or something) that you find every now and again.

Stay on target

As Davish "Pops" Krail who drives Gold Five famously said during the rebel attack on the Death Star… “stay on target”.

Salty, savoury, gravy sensation

Ahhh September is here, the sun is shining, girls clothes are getting skimpier (i wish they'd wrap up more in Bootle though to be honest...), LFC have got rid of loads of sh1t players and I work 5 minutes away from the home of Chilli Beef Soup (as far as i know, but I'm not going to check, so that's the end of it). It's really nice today. It's a salty, savoury, gravy sensation.

Bubble Chips, apparently...


I can see what they mean with bubble chips. These are something of a revolution for the (my) dipping world, the bubbles provide both strength (for heavy soup load™) and are textured so the soup can cling onto the exrta surface area provided by the bubbles. Although this extra pourous design soaks the soup up quite rapidly, so the time between the scoop and consumption should be short if you wish to avoid a soggy chip (crisp if you're in the UK).
